It shows we are pleasing our guests, and that’s what matters most.”

Get on Your Mark, Get Set and Go!

Have you ever dreamed of running free through the tropics, or swimming in the stunning Caribbean Sea, or biking across island hilltops? Well, the Nevis Triathlon offers the opportunity to do all three.  This well-organized event caters to athletes of all ages and skill levels. Novices can opt for the “Try-a-Tri” — a 100-meter swim, followed by a five-kilometer bike ride and finishing with a two-kilometer run — while more advanced competitors can challenge themselves on the “Nevis 37” course.

Now in its 20th year, the Nevis Triathlon remains a friendly competition with seasoned athletes often racing alongside vacationers. All participants receive a tee shirt and commemorative medal upon crossing the finish line. Additionally, the top three finishers in each category receive unique stone trophies, handmade in Nevis. Pre-registration  is required.

Local Spotlight: Vaughn Anslyn

Nevisians look to locally-born artist Vaughn Anslyn for inspiration and he returns the sentiment, saying “I’m never short of inspiration in Nevis. With every turn of my head is a beautiful scene to capture.” His work can be found on paper, wood, stones, walls and any other surface that captures his artistic vision. One of his favorite creations is a mural entitled “Between a Rock and a Hard Place,” which is located under a bridge. He painted it during the height of the COVID pandemic to illustrate feelings of frustration and isolation during lockdown.

Anslyn claims that he never set out to be an artist; instead art found him. “Art is in every aspect of my life and at the forefront of my every profession; whether it’s painting, drawing, photography, décor, set building, stage design or even carpentry,” he says.  Anslyn’s talents and energy are boundless. You can follow his artistic escapades on Instagram.
