•             Honolulu, Hawaii is at the top of the list with a price increase of 252%. Since June 2019, when a one-night stay in a 3-star hotel cost $186, Honolulu’s prices have almost tripled. Travellers can now anticipate paying $654 on average for a single night.

•             New York City is second on the list with a price increase of 226%. The city has seen a huge price increase in accommodation since June 2019. when a one-night stay in a 3-star hotel cost only $228, the city’s accommodation prices have skyrocketed. That amounts to a staggering $743 today.

•             Chicago, Illinois comes in third place with a price increase of 200%. Since June 2019, hotel rates in the skyscraper city have increased significantly; whereas in June 2019, a one-night stay in a 3-star hotel cost $107, it will now cost $321.

The research also looks into the hotel prices which have seen a decrease, highlighting Washington, Alabama and California:

•             Vancouver, Washington was towards the bottom of the list with an increase of 0%. With a $1 decrease, Vancouver, Washington’s hotel rates have essentially remained the same.

•             Birmingham, Alabama is on the list with a decrease of 3%. On our list of cities with the highest hotel price decreases is Birmingham, Alabama. In June 2019, the average cost was $197, but it is now $192 in June 2022.

•             Sacramento, California came at the bottom of the list with a decrease of 31%. One of the few places on our list of the top 30 American cities to see a decrease is Sacramento, California. The average cost of a one-night stay in a three-star hotel room in June 2019 was $298. Currently, in 2022, the average price is around $207.
